Praveen Sinha
Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer
As chief executive officer, Praveen is responsible for leading NovaShield's overall strategy and guiding day-to-day operations. Praveen has over 10 years of experience in the high-tech industry. In 2000, he co-founded UltraVisual Medical Systems (UVMS), a medical informatics vendor, and was instrumental in raising equity capital, hiring key employees and developing the company's product roadmap and business strategy. After merging with Emageon Inc. in 2003, the combined company completed a successful initial public offering in February 2005 (Nasdaq: EMAG), reaching revenues of over $120 million in 2006. Prior to UltraVisual, Praveen was product manager with ADAC Labs, a market leader in nuclear medicine and radiation treatment planning systems.
Praveen has a Ph.D. in Physics and an M.S. in Computer Science from Washington State University. He holds an M.B.A. from University of Chicago with a concentration in entrepreneurship and finance.
Dr. Somesh Jha
Co-founder and Chief Scientist
Dr. Jha has over 19 years of research and development experience, both academic and industrial, in information technology. He is a member of the faculty at the Department of Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where focuses primarily on computer system security, and a frequent speaker at security-related conferences and events around the country. Dr. Jha has been recognized through numerous awards, including the NSF CAREER award, ACM SIGSOFT distinguished paper award, and best paper award at ACSAC. He also conducted four years of advanced research during a postdoctoral fellowship at Carnegie Mellon University's Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Dr. Jha completed his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University and B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT-Delhi, India. He has over 60 publications in peer-reviewed technical journals in the area of computer security and also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Computer Security and on the program committees for WORM05, RAID05, USNIX Security Symposium and WWW (Security and Privacy Track).
Dr. Hao Wang
Director of Research
Dr. Wang joined NovaShield in January 2007 as director of research. He completed his Ph.D. work in Computer Science at the University of Wisconsin under the guidance of Prof. Jha. He successfully defended his thesis entitled, "Detecting and Stopping Privacy Violations in Software". Dr. Wang has spent considerable effort in his graduate studies on understanding and developing innovative ways to protect against emerging IT threats. Prior to pursuing Ph.D. work, he spent three years as a software developer for IBM.
